What's for Dinner Tonight?

I'm home from a very long day of flying.  It wasn't supposed to be so long, but mechanicals happen.

Now, I'm hungry.  Starving, to be exact.  And after looking in my refrigerator and cupboards, I haven't a clue about what to fix.  I have all the staples, and a refrigerator with tons of left overs.  So why is it so difficult to decide what to fix?

You enter the ingredients that you have in the house into their lists, and voila!  Out come ideas and recipes.  This is perfect for when the gourmet cooking juices aren't flowing, or when you're in a rut about the stuff that you've been eating.  Or, when you've put in a long day at work and are so tired that you can't think straight, but now that you have to eat --- and soon!

These aren't gourmet dishes by any means, but they are simple.  And that's exactly what I needed to decide what to have for dinner tonight:  Chicken Casserole with Bacon and Mushrooms.

It's not a site that I'd use for everday use. I enjoy cooking, and like putting together a healthy and delicious meals.

But let's face it -- we all have those days when we are just too tired to come up with something creative. Days when eating the same old thing that we always fix just doesn't sound very appealing.

That's the perfect day to check out this site. The suggestions are quick and easy. And it sure beats junk food.

That sounds like a great site for all us cooking disasters out there who don't have a clue..by the way I'm not calling you a cooking disaster...lol

Hmm. This looks interesting. Sometimes, though, even this is a bit much. After coming home at nearly midnight from teaching evening classes, I just want to pop something frozen into the microwave.

I will definitely be checking this out! Thanks.

Wonder if they have any recipes for cheese, basil, breakfast sausages, and one cucumber.

Mr Stu: Oh, I've had my share of cooking disasters!

Astroprof: True, coming home at midnight I'd likely opt for something frozen or picked up on the way home. However, I'd much rather try to be microwaving something that was at one time fresh, rather than something that tastes like cardboard.

Bone: I experimented at the site by putting in some bizarre combinations of food. Of course, what I got back was equally bizarre, but still -- I found something that I could put together.

I'm not hooked on the site, but for those times when I'm too tired to meal plan, I think it will be handy.
